How are full mouth dental implants inserted?
The process begins with placing several titanium implants into your jawbone. These implants serve as sturdy foundations for securely attaching a full set of custom-made dentures or porcelain crowns in the next phase of treatment.
After the implants are placed, a healing period of 2 to 6 months is needed for them to fully bond with your jawbone and for your gums to heal. During this time, you’ll wear a temporary set of teeth that fits over the implant area, allowing you to eat and speak comfortably.
If your treatment involves a two-stage implant system, your dentist may later uncover the implants to attach small connector pieces that will support your new teeth. This minor procedure typically requires an additional two weeks of healing. Once healed, these connectors are securely fastened—unless a ball anchor system is used, which allows your dentures to snap on and off.
The final step is attaching your permanent teeth, whether they’re full dentures or porcelain crowns. You'll soon be able to chew, smile, and speak with confidence—and care for your new teeth just like natural ones, with regular brushing and flossing.
